MIDLAND, Texas – Gov. Ron DeSantis announced his American energy policy platform in Midland, Texas Wednesday morning, which he said will “unleash” energy production, help the economy, while also helping reduce global emissions without strict mandates and regulations.

DeSantis promised he would reverse President Joe Biden’s “Green New Deal” policies, which his campaign argued “hurt Americans and strengthen our adversaries.”

“As President, I will be laser-focused on reducing gas prices and energy costs,” DeSantis said. “We will unleash American energy dominance as a way to stop inflation and achieve $2 gas in 2025.”

“We need a pro-America energy policy that puts Midland over Moscow, the Marcellus over the Mullahs, and the Bakken over Beijing,” he said. “We will reverse American decline by reversing Biden’s America last energy agenda, eliminating reliance on hostile nations for energy, and putting the economic interests of Americans before the radical left’s ideological agenda.”

DeSantis’ campaign outlined specifics of the platform, which involves restoring American dominance in the global energy market, repealing electric vehicle “mandates” and automobile regulations to “save the American automobile,” along with cracking down on corporate governance practices that seek to penalize the fossil fuel industry.

The Florida governor vowed to “end green lawfare” by streamlining review processes for energy projects, would work to end “abusive litigation by environmental groups,” and would “greenlight” drilling and mineral mining.

One major pillar of DeSantis’ platform involves bolstering the U.S. electrical grid, with a goal being set to make it the most reliable, efficient and affordable “in the world.”

To accomplish that, DeSantis’ campaign said he would repeal Biden’s “Clean Power Plan,” repeal policies that result in the U.S. being more reliant on China for energy, and directing federal agencies to prioritize the most reliable and affordable forms of energy.
