TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Gov. Ron DeSantis signed into law on Friday new provisions to go after people who place hidden tracking devices on a person’s property without their consent.

The law changes existing statutes to bar someone from placing the devices, such as Apple AirTags, on someone’s property without consent, and from using that device to determine their location or movement without consent.

Violations of the statute include a third degree felony.

SB 758 was brought by Sen. Jonathan Martin, R-Fort Myers, and the House version was brought Rep. Tobin Overdorf, R-Palm City.

It takes effect Oct. 1.
