TALLAHASSEE (FCV) – Florida Governor Ron DeSantis delivered remarks on Monday in which he slammed the teaching of gender orientation related materials.

This comes following the recent passage of Florida’s Parental Rights in Education law, formally known as H.B. 1557, which prohibits the teaching of gender and sexual orientation related materials in grades K-3.

DeSantis emphasized that “we should be focusing on reading, we should be focusing on writing, we should be focusing on science and math and the key things that are gonna be able to lift these kids up.”

The Governor also said that his administration is proud of what they have done regarding early literacy.

DeSantis boasted of his administration’s newly implemented program that provides school books to students who cannot afford them.

The Florida Governor’s recent accomplishments regarding education include signing financial literacy legislation which will require students to take financial literacy courses to receive a High School diploma in the state.

Recently, he also signed the Parental Rights in Education Act, which will serve to promote student well-being in the classroom.
