TALLAHASSEE (FLV) – Hours after Gov. Ron DeSantis declared “you’re not taking gas stoves away from us” at a press conference in The Villages, the DeSantis team advertised new “Don’t Tread on Florida” merchandise featuring images of gas stoves on aprons.

“When we say Don’t Tread on Florida… that includes OUR GAS STOVES!” Team DeSantis shared on Twitter.

“Show the Left that they’re not taking those away from us anytime soon… Secure yours now,” they continued with “#AllGasNoBrakes” and a link to purchase the aprons on the Team DeSantis website.

DeSantis told the Biden Administration to “let us alone” and said “you’re not taking gas stoves away from us” amidst the ongoing conflict of potentially banning gas stoves in the U.S.

“When we say don’t tread on Florida or let us alone, we mean that including on your gas stoves. You’re not taking our gas stoves away from us, that is your choice and I know many people who cook a lot do not want to part with their gas stoves and so, we’re gonna stand up for that,” DeSantis said.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has reportedly been weighing a rule that would ban gas stoves in the U.S. This came after being prompted by U.S. Sen. Cory Booker, D-NJ, and U.S. Rep. Don Beyer, D-VA, who urged the agency to do something about gas stoves, claiming they are a “cumulative burden” on minority and low-income households.

“And then you start to see the narrative kick into gear, CNN segments saying how it’s causing asthma in kids and all this other stuff, and so they start propagating the narrative,” DeSantis said.

The administration faced backlash from those opposed to the gas stove ban and CNN reported that the White House said “the President does not support banning gas stoves.”

“Then they got blowback and so they’ve kinda had to retreat from it and now the narrative machine is like ‘oh, why are these conservatives talking about gas stoves, they’re trying to stoke, you know, issues.’ No, you were trying to do it and we’re fighting back and so, but the bottom line is, anything they can get away with, they’re gonna get away with and this is just a perfect example of that,” DeSantis said.
