TALLAHASSEE (FLV) – Gov. Ron DeSantis said that his administration plans to do more with K-12 and higher education as well as gender ideology “issues.”

DeSantis made comments at a private event last week at the Florida Governor’s Mansion and said his administration is going to “do a lot more” with K-12 and higher education.

Last year, the governor signed a bill that adds transparency requirements for tuition, fees and cost of materials as well as requires all professors to undergo a post-tenure review.

DeSantis said his administration will work on making sure that universities are teaching in the “classical sense” and not “imposing ideological worldview on the students.”

“We’re gonna do a lot more with K-12 education and higher education. You know, we did a bill last year, all tenure professors must undergo review and can be let go. So we’re gonna work on that and work on maybe beefing that up and beefing up some of the other things to just make sure that our Universities are about education in the classical sense and not about imposing an ideological worldview on the students,” said DeSantis.

The governor said that many universities have gone “so far off the deep end” and his administration will have other announcements for future plans.

“And I think we’ve seen many, many universities have gone so far off the deep end with the other things and we’re gonna have some other announcements along those lines very, very soon,” said Desantis.

Earlier this year, Florida Surgeon General Joseph Ladapo announced new guidelines banning doctors to perform sex changes on minors. DeSantis explained his administration will be doing more on “these issues.”

“We win every time and then the people are with us every time on these issues like the gender ideology and some of these other things and we are gonna do more on that. You know, we said now with our Board of Medicine, thanks to Dr. Ladapo, if you do sex change operations on minors, you’re losing your medical license in the state of Florida,” DeSantis explained.
