TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (FLV) – Gov. Ron DeSantis reacted to another indictment of former President Donald Trump Tuesday night, vowing to “end the weaponization of government” and calling for such cases to be relocated out of Washington, D.C.

Trump was indicted again as part of Special Counsel Jack Smith’s investigation about Trump’s potential interference in electoral legal processes following the 2020 election, along with riots and demonstrations on Jan. 6, 2021.

DeSantis also promised to bring in a new FBI director, should he be elected president, and ensure a “single standard of justice for all Americans.”

“While I’ve seen reports, I have not read the indictment. I do, though, believe we need to enact reforms so that Americans have the right to remove cases from Washington, DC to their home districts,” he continued.

“Washington, DC is a ‘swamp’ and it is unfair to have to stand trial before a jury that is reflective of the swamp mentality,” DeSantis said.

“One of the reasons our country is in decline is the politicization of the rule of law. No more excuses—I will end the weaponization of the federal government.”

The indictment marks the third in months, continuing the unprecedented steps of criminally pursuing a former U.S. president.

The charges include four felony counts relating to attempting to overturn the 2020 election.

On being criminally pursued on multiple fronts despite seeking another term of the presidency, Trump recently said he’ll “never” drop out of the 2024 race.

“I’ll never leave,” he said. “Look, if I would have left, I would have left prior to the original race in 2016. That was a rough one. In theory that was not doable.”
