TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Former President Donald Trump and Florida Republican Sen. Rick Scott are sailing to Sunshine State victories this November, according to the latest poll from Florida Atlantic University.

Trump and Scott both clocked in at around 51% support versus their Democratic opponents, President Joe Biden and former U.S. Rep. Debbie Mucarsel-Powell, respectively.

Trump’s lead is at 8% and Scott’s is 16%, but that is primely amidst Mucarsel-Powell’s lack of name recognition in the state. She only clocked in at 35%, while Biden’s support was 45%.

The poll suggests Trump’s tailwinds at the top of the ballot will help Scott, who only won in 2018 by around 10,000 votes.

It was conducted April 15-17 among 865 Florida adults, with a margin of error of 3.3%.

In a three-way race between Trump, Biden and Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Trump’s lead increases to 10% over Biden.

The poll also asked respondents about their plans for congressional voting – on the “generic ballot,” Republicans lead statewide by 10%, with just over a third of the state planning to vote Democratic.

FAU additionally pondered to respondents how they plan to vote on ballot initiatives to enshrine constitutional access to abortion up to fetal “viability” and to legalize recreational use of marijuana.

For the abortion initiative, 49% support it, 19% oppose while 32% “don’t know.”

For the marijuana question, the support was slightly less at 47%, the opposition was 35% and 18% were unsure.

Back at the presidential level, FAU’s poll continues a streak of strong results for Trump. In the RealClearPolling aggregate for Florida, Trump’s lead is 9%.
