WASHINGTON, D.C. – Florida Republican Rep. Byron Donalds derided Hunter Biden’s “Democrat privilege” after the president’s son walked out of a congressional committee hearing regarding holding him in contempt of a subpoena.

“Let’s be very clear: This isn’t about Hunter Biden’s white privilege. It’s about Hunter Biden’s Democrat privilege,” Donalds said.

“He has the unmitigated gall to show up here when we know [we’re] going through the legislation for contempt […] And then, when the Democrats are saying, ‘Hey, he wants to speak’ – he leaves!” he said. “This is a joke. This is a farce.”

In contrast, Florida Democratic Rep. Jared Moskowitz praised Hunter Biden’s actions on Capitol Hill Wednesday.

“I didn’t have any advanced knowledge,” Moskowitz said. “My colleagues [should] have expected something.”

“I think it was pretty smart for him [Hunter Biden] to come and show the American people that my colleagues across the aisle actually don’t want the truth to get out, they just want to continue to spin,” he said.

Hunter Biden’s surprise appearance at the hearing resulted in criticism from Republican members of the committee, who wanted him to testify in a deposition regarding an impeachment inquiry into the president.

Moskowitz had said during the hearing that the members should want to hear from Biden; the president’s son left the meeting soon after.

The House Oversight Committee had published a recommendation that the House find Hunter Biden in contempt “for refusal to comply with a subpoena duly issued by the Committee on Oversight and Accountability.”
