TALLAHASSEE (FLV) – SpaceX and Tesla CEO Elon Musk, the richest man in the world who recently made a bid to purchase social media giant Twitter, said early Wednesday he is “leaning towards” voting for Gov. Ron DeSantis in the 2024 Presidential Election.

The remark came in a conversation Musk held with Tesla Owners Silicon Valley:

Musk: “I voted for Mayra Flores – first time I ever voted Republican. Massive red wave in 2022.

Tesla Owners Silicon Valley: “I assume republican for president [too]?

Musk: “tbd [to be determined]

Tesla Owners Silicon Valley:What are you leaning towards?

Musk: “DeSantis

One user asked the mega-billionaire his thoughts on 2020 failed Democrat presidential candidate Andrew Yang, and Musk replied, “I supported Yang last time, but DeSantis has a better chance at winning.”

DeSantis has been echoing similar sentiments as Musk, saying that the left is having a “spasm” because “we’re winning.”

“These are leftists and the fact of the matter is they are having a spasm about me because we’re winning in Florida,” DeSantis said. “They see that and they don’t like that.”

After Musk made his bid to buy Twitter, he received glowing praise from the Florida Governor: “@elonmusk’s offer to buy Twitter is a good deal for shareholders and raises the prospect that the platform will be a place where free speech can thrive, not a tool for narrative enforcement,” he said.

Early into Musk’s Twitter deal saga, DeSantis made huge follower gains to the tune of hundreds of thousands, prompting suspicion of algorithmic manipulation.

Musk’s comments align with current available polling aggregates from RealClearPolitics, giving Republicans a historic 3.8 point average advantage over Democrats on the generic ballot.
