First Lady Casey DeSantis Assists Florida Communities In Hurricane Recovery Process

SOUTHWEST FLORIDA (FLV) – First Lady Casey DeSantis visited multiple communities across southwest Florida to assist with Hurricane Ian Recovery efforts.

DeSantis served up hot meals for first responders at the First Responders Base Camp in Lee County, reported by NBC2.

The First Lady also met with Veterans and staff at the Douglas T. Jacobson Veterans’ Nursing Home who rode out the storm.

“Their resilience through the hurricane is inspirational and I appreciate their warm welcome,” DeSantis said.

The First Lady volunteered at Murdock Baptist Church to support the local community.

It was previously reported that the First Lady announced the activation of the Florida Disaster Fund to support Florida’s communities impacted by Hurricane Ian which raised $20 million within the first 48 hours.

The Florida Disaster Fund is the State of Florida’s official private fund established to provide financial assistance to our communities as they respond to and recover from times of emergency or disaster, according to the press release.
