TALLAHASSEE (FCV) – Wednesday, the Florida Department of Health announced a new health initiative named Healthier You, encouraging immune system boosting habits and lifestyle.

The new initiative focuses on promoting the formation of vital habits to strong general health, such as increased physical activity and strong nutrition.

In a promotional video, a graphic can be seen emphasizing vaccination, exercise and activity, nutrition, vitamin C, vitamin D, and zinc, all of which are strong components of guarding against infection like COVID-19.

FCV spoke with Jeremy Redfern, the press secretary for the Florida Department of Health.

“The Department of Health wants to provide easy-to-access resources to help Floridians get active, get outdoors, improve their nutrition, or learn their options with COVID-19,” he said.

The program includes a plethora of resources like no-to-low-cost health services and education for both general health and COVID-19.

“The Department wants Floridians to live their best and healthiest life, and these resources are designed to do just that.”

There are no mandates or violations of civil liberties and rights associated with the new Healthier You initiative.

Throughout the course of the COVID-19 pandemic, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) took a mostly hands-off approach in regards to individual health choices, lifting restrictions very early in the pandemic when more data became available.

Florida’s laissez-faire decision to remain wary of mandates comes in contrast to other deep blue states and the Biden Administration that have attempted to violate civil liberties through lockdowns and mandates.
