TALLAHASSEE (FCV) – Florida State Representative Randy Fine (R) said on Monday that he has plans to introduce new legislation in the next session to make it illegal to “provide drugs or surgery to a minor for ‘gender reassignment.'”

“[The legislation] will make it felony child abuse punishable by prison/loss of medical license. This legislation would not affect mental counseling,” he went on.

Fine noted the distinction between adults and children having the procedure, saying that children should not be put in the position of making “life-altering decisions before they are of the age of majority.”

“If an adult wants to self-mutilate in pursuit of the fiction they can defy G-d and science, more power to them — as they don’t expect me to pay for it.”

I’ve taken on Common Core, university corruption, and school board lawbreaking. And won every time. This is next.

After Rep. Fine vowed to outlaw the controversial practice for minors, Florida Democrats rallied to defend parental-imposed mutilation of children.

Florida State Representative Carlos G. Smith went after Fine, saying that Republicans are “on a dangerous course, retaliating against ANY person or business who expresses support for the LGTBQ+ community.”

“This latest threat to criminalize LIFE-SAVING CARE for LGBTQ youth should shock the conscience of all Floridians,” he said.

“FL Republicans once again showing us that the entire premise of HB1557 [Parental Rights in Education] was & is to attack the health & well-being of LGBTQ+ youth, who they don’t think should even be able to access medical care w/parental consent,” Florida State Representative Anna Eskamani said.

“This policy proposal is dangerous & will harm already marginaliz[ed LGBTQ youth].”

Generally, United States law recognizes the ability of adults to consent to activities like signing formal contracts and consenting to sexual activity until the age of majority, 18 (in some circumstances, 1-2 years before).
