ORLANDO (FCV) – Wednesday, the Central Florida Division of Advent Health, a large hospital system in Florida, reported that its current number of COVID hospitalized patients sits at 240.

In contrast, at the peak of the Delta variant of COVID-19, the system saw around 1,700 hospitalized patients.

Despite case numbers strongly eclipsing those of Delta, Omicron hospitalizations are much lower.

As of December 28, Florida has witnessed an 88% reduction in hospitalizations during the Omicron surge compared to the Delta surge.

Other states, like New York, are seeing thousands more cases than Florida. Conservatives point out that media outlets should stop misleadingly reporting Florida’s numbers, acting as though they are the worst, and placing the blame on Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’ (R) anti-lockdown policies.

Last week, DeSantis said in an interview that “Floridians know there will be no lockdowns,” holding true to his pro-medical and pro-liberty policies.
