TALLAHASSEE (FCV) – Fox News has reported that in Florida, Republican voters currently outnumber registered Democrat voters by over 100,000 for the first time in the state’s history.

Late last year, the Republicans overtook Democrats in party registration under Party Chairman and Florida State Senator Joe Gruters, a close ally of former President Donald Trump. Gruters was one of the first major figures to support Trump in the 2016 Election. He later became the chairman of Trump’s Florida campaign.

Fox was told by a DeSantis spokesperson that the “surge” in Republican voters has exceeded 101,000 over the Democrats.

“There’s no beating around the fact this historic gain is because of Governor Ron DeSantis,” Florida GOP Executive Director Helen Aguirre Ferre said in a statement.

“Florida voters are appreciative of the palpable sense of freedom he has created in our state.”

“Unemployment is lower than the national average, our schools are open, there are no lockdowns, and there are no masks. Voters recognize the governor is a champion for families and businesses alike,” she said. “Our voter registration numbers are impressive, but a 363,000 net change? That is unprecedented.”

A senior adviser to DeSantis’ campaign told Fox that since 2018, registered Republicans have increased 363,000.

Miami-Dade county is an area in which Republicans are making strong gains on Democrats. The county has typically been seen as a safe zone for Democrats.

Last year, Gruters was elected to a second term as the Party Chairman. “Republicans around the country are looking at the State of Florida for leadership,” DeSantis said.

After being the chairman of the Sarasota Republican Executive Committee, Gruters took his experience nationwide to bolster the party’s registration efforts.

“I look forward to working alongside the best Governor in the nation in Governor Ron DeSantis to ensure his re-election and successful mid-term elections. We are more united In Florida than ever,” Gruters remarked.

Now, Gruters’ efforts to increase party registration across the state since he became chairman are paying off. Republicans are looking at a potential red wave across Florida, and Gruters is increasingly perceived as Florida’s best GOP Chairman in history, given overwhelming majorities in both the Florida House of Representatives and Senate, along with Florida now holding two Republican U.S. Senators.

This election, the number of GOP congressman going to Washington, D.C. are expected to increase.

Polls are showing DeSantis leading Democrat Charlie Crist by a average of 8.8 points. He leads Nikki Fried by 12.8 points. In 2018, DeSantis won by under 1 point against Andrew Gillum.

Another high-profile Republican activist known for getting out the vote and relentlessly registering Republicans is Scott Pressler, who consistently sends tweets of efforts to register votes at gas stations where prices are high under the Biden Administration.

Pressler is now touring across Florida – 23 events in 16 counties – to register new voters.

“For the first time in history, there are more registered Republicans than democrats. Presler hopes to expand that lead,” a press release said.
