TALLAHASSEE, FL – Last month, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) called for a week-long special legislative session. Today, the session will convene with the objective to defeat the COVID-19 vaccine mandates that are being enacted by businesses and government agencies.

The special legislative session will consider four bills that impose penalties on businesses and local governments that require employees to have the COVID-19 vaccine. In a press release, DeSantis stated, “No cop, no firefighter, no nurse, nobody should be losing their job because of these jabs.”

DeSantis supports first responders in relocating to Florida from other states to be free from vaccine mandates.

If the new Florida bills are passed into law by the special legislative session, fines will be enacted on private businesses that are requiring COVID-19 vaccinations despite employee exemptions.
