TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Florida House committee favored a bill Thursday creating more efficient regulations for pet insurance markets to benefit consumers.

Rep. Kaylee Tuck, R-Lake Placid, filed HB 1465.

“HB 1465 creates an efficient, effective regulatory framework for pet insurance that benefits consumers, empowers regulators, and ensures the marketplace operates fairly,” Tuck said to the committee. “The bill incorporates a uniform and workable regulatory regime for pet insurance products that was a two and a half year collaboration of national leaders in the industry.”

The Florida House Commerce Committee approved the measure unanimously 16-0.

Sen. Nick DiCegile, R-St. Petersburg, filed an identical bill to HB 1465.

The proposal will take effect if fully passed on Jan. 1, 2025.
