Florida bridges will illuminate red, white, and blue from Memorial to Labor Day
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Florida Department of Transportation Secretary Jared Perdue recently said that state bridges will be lit up red, white and blue from Memorial to Labor Day to celebrate America.
“As Floridians prepare for Freedom Summer, Florida’s bridges will follow suit, illuminating in red, white, and blue from Memorial Day through Labor Day! Thanks to the leadership of @GovRonDeSantis, Florida continues to be the freest state in the nation,” Perdue said.
A local media outlet became under fire for alleging the Tampa Bay Sunshine Skyway Bridge “is going dark for Pride Month” in June.
As Perdue noted, the bridge will be red, white and blue. Gov. Ron DeSantis officials, including Christina Pushaw and press secretary Jeremy Redfern, celebrated online fact-checkers pointing out the reporting discrepancy.
Perdue made the announcement as part of Florida’s “Freedom Summer.” Florida families will also gain access to all Florida State Parks for free on Memorial Day weekend.
In addition, DeSantis signed legislation renewing sales tax holidays on recreational items through the month of July on the following items:
