TALLAHASSEE (FLV) – Florida Democrats criticized Gov. Ron DeSantis for his response condemning the FBI’s raid of Trump’s house.

“The raid of MAL is another escalation in the weaponization of federal agencies against the Regime’s political opponents, while people like Hunter Biden get treated with kid gloves,” DeSantis said. “Now the Regime is getting another 87k IRS agents to wield against its adversaries? Banana Republic.”

Senate Democrat Leader Lauren Book did not believe the FBI’s raid was politically motivated.

“Ron DeSantis is now asserting that the Mar A Lago raid was a political hit job. He’s wrong,” Book said. “No one, not even a former President is above the law, and as for DeSantis, trust me, as Florida’s Senate Democrat Leader, I will work to ensure we hold DeSantis accountable at the polls.”

Democrat candidate for governor, Nikki Fried, held a press conference the day after the raid asking politicians to de-escalate their rhetoric.

“We all have to wait and see what exactly that search warrant said, the evidence that was being presented, and not to do this rhetoric attack on both sides of the conversation,” Fried said.

Reporters questioned Fried on how her past comments comparing DeSantis to a “dictator” mirrors de-escalation.

“What I have said, Gary, is that there is a lot of actions that we are seeing in the state of Florida that is infringing upon people’s rights,” Fried said.

“Ron DeSantis attacks law enforcement for legally raiding Mar-a-Lago while he’s yet to say anything about the heinous Nazis in our state who’ve been rallying in support of him,” Democratic candidate for governor Charlie Crist said. “Also, attacking a private company, Disney, for free speech is about as ‘banana republic’ as it gets.”

Fox News reports that the raid is related to materials Trump allegedly brought to his private residence after his presidency concluded.
