TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Florida gas prices climbed to $3.34 per gallon on Tuesday, higher than the national average price of $3.28.

The situation is worse in southern and Big Bend portions of Florida, where prices are upwards of $3.50.

The Panhandle has the cheapest prices, down towards $3.

According to AAA, the national average also recently jumped 12 cents, which is more “notable” compared to typical increases expected this time of year.

AAA said there was a shutdown at a large Indiana refinery, which could be a factor. Gas demand has also declined slightly.

Florida’s gas average is higher than its year-ago average of $3.30.
