FLORIDA (FLV) – The Florida average cost for gas has declined for four consecutive weeks and now landed at $4.41 per gallon.

The average fell a total of 47 cents during those four weeks and dropped 15 cents per gallon last week.

“The price declines are attributed to falling oil and gasoline futures prices, which suffered steep drops in recent weeks, due to concerns about a potential global economic recession, and how that could result in lower worldwide demand for fuel,” said Mark Jenkins, a spokesman for AAA – The Auto Club Group.

The national average is $4.67 per gallon. While Florida’s average is at $4.41, counties like Palm Beach face prices at $4.63 per gallon.

About two months ago on May 12th, Gov. Ron DeSantis said President Biden “doesn’t care” about Americans struggling at the pump. Those comments were made when Florida’s average gas price hit $4.32 a gallon.

“Americans are struggling with record gas prices – up over 50% since Biden took office – but he doesn’t care. Rather than expand domestic energy production, he continues to reduce U.S. production capacity (increasing our reliance on foreign oil) by canceling our oil & gas leases,” DeSantis said.

At that time, the Biden Administration had canceled oil and gas lease sales in Alaska and the Gulf of Mexico.

“Due to lack of industry interest in leasing in the area, the Department will not move forward with the proposed Cook Inlet OCS oil and gas lease sale 258,” a DOI spokesperson told FOX Business in a statement Thursday.
