TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (FLV) – The Republican Party of Florida touted Florida’s lack of tolerance for “soft-on-crime Democrats” in the wake of unruly crowds in Chicago.

Videos showed people in Chicago jumping on cars and looting over the weekend.

Police reportedly said two people were shot.

“Thankful that Florida is a law and order state,” the state GOP said on Twitter.

The party called out Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker, a Democrat.

“Florida Republicans do not tolerate the anarchy that soft-on-crime Democrats like JB Pritzker let slide,” they said.

Chicago’s Mayor-elect Brandon Johnson said in response to the unrest that it was “unacceptable.”

However, he said “it is not constructive to demonize youth who have otherwise been starved of opportunities in their own communities.”

Gov. Ron DeSantis proposed a slew of “anti-crime” reforms earlier this year.

DeSantis announced capital punishment reform, bond reform, and fentanyl crackdown as part of his proposals to “preserve Law & Order.”

Overall crime in Florida has decreased consistently for most of its recent history. According to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, overall crime is not up under DeSantis.
