TALLAHASSEE (FLV) – The Republican Party of Florida released a statewide television and digital advertisement calling out Democrat candidate for governor Charlie Crist’s record with President Joe Biden.

Crist will face Gov. Ron DeSantis in the November election. The 30-second ad is titled “The Biden-Crist Agenda,” which the DeSantis campaign said highlights Biden’s “destructive agenda.”

Here is the ad’s transcript:

NARRATOR: “Joe Biden’s policies are hurting Americans. And Charlie Crist voted with Biden 100% of the time. Crist voted for Biden’s multitrillion dollar spending triggering inflation…gas, groceries, housing, all skyrocketing. Crist voted to support Biden’s open border policies – criminals, gangs and drugs are pouring in. Fentanyl killing Americans at record levels. Crist is weak on crime and supports defunding the police.
CRIST: “It’s Reallocation”
NARRATOR: “Charlie Crist, supporting Biden 100% of the time.

The DeSantis campaign has pointed to Crist’s support of Biden’s $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan in 2021. Meanwhile, DeSantis criticized the plan to “bail out the poorly governed states.” The Washington Post reports that the $1.9 trillion plan “led to the fastest price increases in America in decades.”

The campaign targets Crist for supporting the “American Dream and Promise Act of 2021,” which would create a “conditional permanent resident” status valid for up to 10 years for DACA recipients.

The DeSantis campaign has also noted Crist’s support of reallocating funding with regards to law enforcement.

“It isn’t defunding,” Crist said. “It’s reallocation and making a balance to the approach.”

Defundthepolice.org said “by defunding the police, significant resources can be reallocated to create a new community emergency services to support the mental health needs of our vulnerable community members.”

Florida’s Voice reached out to the Crist campaign for a response to the new advertisement.
