TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (FLV) – The Florida Republican Party launched the “Early Vote Operations Committee” with 15 county leaders that will be focused solely on early voting.

State party Chair Christian Ziegler announced the committee will focus on vote-by-mail and early in-person voting.

“News out of Wisconsin tonight is that we lost the vital Supreme Court seat due to Democrats outperforming us in Early Voting… That isn’t going to happen in Florida,” Ziegler said.

“We are going to aggressively go after every ballot and bank votes as soon as possible,” he continued.

Democratic-backed Milwaukee County Circuit Judge Janet Protasiewicz defeated Republican-backed former Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice Dan Kelly, according to reports. The liberal judges will hold a 4-3 majority.

“The @GOP cannot continue to lose races like in Wisconsin last night. The Florida model works: Register voters, turnout every Republican possible, and lead boldly. It’s time for Republicans to do this on a National level,” Republican Party of Florida Vice Chair Evan Power tweeted.

In 2022, according to recent data, 5,325,589 voters were registered as Republicans, 4,969,377 as Democrats, 4,037,098 with no affiliation, and 264,802 with minor parties in Florida.

Outgoing Chairman Joe Gruters made voter registration a priority this past election cycle. By working with Gov. Ron DeSantis, he helped in solidifying Florida as a ‘red state’ as the GOP lead in active registered voters has grown considerably.

In a previous interview with Florida’s Voice, Ziegler said DeSantis laid out a path forward and went after issues that impact the areas Floridians care about.

“We have to expand our reach as much as we can,” Ziegler said.

“These are issues that a lot of politicians stay away from. DeSantis took the lead on that. What happened when he was bold – it allowed citizens to take note and they saw how he was protecting their family. We saw a lot of people switch and vote for Governor DeSantis because of that,” Ziegler explained.

Ziegler said Democrats and Independents can be pulled in by focusing on “kitchen table-type” issues.

“We need to lock up our base. We need to make sure they’re out there mobilizing and working but we also need to go after these issues that cross party lines and are common sense,” Ziegler said.
