TALLAHASSEE (FLV) – The Florida Republican National Committee Communications Director is calling for Floridians to vote out Democrats who ignored voters calling for border security, as Nov.’s midterm election approaches with less than 50 days away.

“It just took 50 illegal immigrants in Martha’s Vineyard for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris to finally notice,” a GOP email said.

“As Biden’s inhumane border crisis worsens, Florida Democrats empathize with Martha’s Vineyard, not Americans who want border security,” spokeswoman Julia Friedland said.

Gov. Ron DeSantis previously sent two flights of 50 migrants to Martha’s Vineyard and called it, “just the beginning,” saying he would use all of the allotted money to continue transporting them to sanctuary cities.

“We’ve got an infrastructure in place. Now, there’s going to be a lot more that’s happening,” DeSantis said. “But I’m glad that this has now put this issue on the front burner because it really should be on the front burner,” DeSantis said.

The Florida legislature approved $12 million to help transport illegal immigrants from the state, which he plans to “spend every penny.”

Democrat nominee for Florida governor Charlie Crist said he “wouldn’t have shipped them on a plane, wouldn’t have lied to them, I would have kept them in Florida – treated them humanely, given them comfort, make sure they were fed and nourished and treated them like human beings – I would do the opposite of what he’s [DeSantis] done.”

As of August 2022, Customs and Border Protection (CBP) recorded 203,597 illegal crossings at the Southwest Land Border.

CBS News reports the number of migrant arrivals along the U.S.- Mexico border in fiscal year 2022 surpassed 2 million in August, setting a record for the all-time high driven in part by unprecedented levels of migration from Cuba, Venezuela and Nicaragua, according to CBP data released on Monday.

“Let this put to rest Biden’s myth that the border is ‘secure’ or that there is a working ‘process’ in place at the border. The process has ‘collapsed,’”the GOP news release said.

Vice President Kamala Harris recently told Chuck Todd on NBC’s show Meet The Press that the border was secure – but pointed to a broken immigration system, “in particular over the last four years before we came in – and it needs to be fixed.”

Migrants also arrived near Harris’ residence at the Naval Observatory in Washington, D.C. last week, in a convoy of buses sent by Texas Governor Greg Abbott.

Despite the Vice President’s claims that the border is secure, a Venezuelan migrant told Fox News, “Everybody believes the border is open. It’s open because we entered – we come in, free.”

CBP reports failing communist regimes in Venezuela, Nicaragua, and Cuba are driving a new wave of migration across the Western Hemisphere, including the recent increase in encounters at the southwest U.S. border.

“… Those fleeing repressive regimes pose significant challenges for processing and removal. At the same time, the number of migrants entering from Mexico and northern Central America has decreased for the third consecutive month, as the Biden-Harris Administration works with our partners in the region to address the root causes of migration, facilitate repatriation, and take thousands of smugglers off the streets.”
