WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – U.S. Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart, R-Fla., announced his endorsement of former President Donald Trump in the 2024 election this week.

Fellow Florida Republican Rep. Maria Elvira Salazar is the last state Republican in Congress to not yet endorse a candidate.

Trump has a vast majority of the D.C. delegation in his aisle, including both Sens. Rick Scott and Marco Rubio.

“Over the last three years Biden’s disastrous policies have brought us record inflation, an uncontrolled border, rampant crime, high energy prices and the top military leadership in disarray,” Diaz-Balart said. “President Trump has the record, experience and the ability to undo the devastating consequences of Biden’s policies. I wholeheartedly endorse Donald Trump to be our next president.”

The endorsement of Trump comes after the former president handily won both the Iowa caucus and New Hampshire, both with well over 50% of the vote and with double digit leads over his opponents.

Gov. Ron DeSantis dropped out this month after his second place Iowa showing and endorsed Trump, prompting other lawmakers to back Trump as well.

However, former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley has vowed to remain in the race for the time being.

Next is the Nevada caucus on Feb. 8, where only Trump, not Haley, is on the ballot.

After that is the South Carolina primary on Feb. 24, Haley’s home state, where she was formerly governor.

Polls hand Trump a massive 57-point lead over Haley, which has been growing. He recently broke 70% national support in the RealClearPolling average for Republicans.

Trump is also leading President Joe Biden in national general election polling and in most of the swing states.
