TALLAHASSEE (FCV) – President Joe Biden’s first State of The Union Address put a strong emphasis on the following topics: the coronavirus pandemic, Ukraine, inflation, and a so-called “Unity” agenda.

Many Florida Republicans had a lot to say about Biden’s address. Governor Ron DeSantis (R) tweeted, “Last week the Biden Administration requested the assistance of State National Guards to deploy to Washington D.C I have rejected this request – there will be no @FLGuard sent to D.C. for Biden’s State of the Union.”

During the address, DeSantis threw shade on Biden, tweeting an image depicting a Florida alligator with the mantra “Let us alone.”

Marco Rubio (R) had a lot to say as well, one of his many tweets was “The president who called Republicans modern day segregationists & leads a party who called those who opposed nonsensical Covid rules a death cult now asks we stop seeing Covid as a partisan divide and each other as enemies #StateOfTheUnion.”

Senator Rick Scott (R) tweeted “Actions speak louder than words, @POTUS. If you truly want to secure the border, fight inflation, hold Big tech accountable & get America back on track – I have the bills to do it. Let’s see some leadership & work to take these issues from your side of the aisle.” The bill he was referring to is the 11 point plan.

Florida State Representative Spencer Roach (R) said, “He said we are stronger today that we were a year ago. By every demonstrable metric, that is a lie”. Rep. Anthony Sabatini tweeted “Worst State of the Union address in the history of our nation.”

Across the board, Florida Republicans and national Republicans are vehemently critical of the lackluster performance seen in Biden’s White House.
