PHILADELPHIA (FLV) – Florida Republicans condemned President Joe Biden’s speech as he painted Donald Trump and “MAGA Republicans” as an extreme group that “threatens the very foundations of our republic.”

“I hear this raving lunatic attacked half the country tonight because they don’t agree with his liberal agenda to spend us into oblivion, open our borders, and send an army of IRS agents into our homes,” said Sen. Rick Scott.

“I’m pretty happy being on the opposite side of that guy.”

Biden made his speech in front of Independence Hall. The building was lit up in a blood red shade with military personnel in the background.

“And here, in my view, is what is true: MAGA Republicans do not respect the Constitution,” Biden said. “They do not believe in the rule of law. They do not recognize the will of the people.”

Biden said he is able to work with “mainstream Republicans” and said “not every Republican” is a MAGA, claiming MAGA “forces” want to take the country backwards.

“Angry man smears half of the people of the country he is supposed to lead and promised to unite,” Sen. Marco Rubio said.

In 2020, Biden said he pledged to be “a president who seeks not to divide, but unify.” In the past week, Biden also accused Republicans of semi-fascism.

“Biden is the most divisive, dangerous and disastrous president in modern times,” U.S. Rep. Byron Donalds said as he posted a picture of Biden during his speech.

“This is an outrageous speech by an American President. Someone should remind @JoeBiden that he is willfully ignoring federal law at the southern border, he said nothing when Supreme Court justices were threatened, and he is forgiving debt with NO authorization from Congress.”

The Republican National Committee criticized Biden for not talking about issues including inflation, the economy, the border, and crime.

“Joe Biden and his mini-me Charlie Crist pitch themselves as ‘uniters,’ only to turn around and slander half the country,” RNC Spokeswoman Julia Friedland said.

Florida GOP Chairman of Chairs Evan Power said Biden made “enemies” of the millions of people who voted against him.

“History will record this as a low moment in our nation’s history. An administration that has failed now attempts to make enemies of the 75 million people who voted against them,” Power said. “This is an attempt to suppress opposition, and the American people should drive them from office.”
