TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Republican Party of Florida is on pace to lead the Florida Democratic Party by around one million voters come election day if current trends continue, according to county-level data compiled by Florida’s Voice.

As of May 28, the GOP leads the Democrats by 923,558 voters.

Notably, since April, there was a voter roll purge of greater proportions than months prior. Both parties lost voters, but the Democrats lost significantly more.

As it stands, there are approximately 5.225 million Republicans and 4.3 million Democrats. The GOP holds an edge in 57 of 67 counties.

Since April 31, the GOP has added over 20,000 voters to its registration lead. It was the latter portion of April when the party broke its landmark 900,000 lead, the next milestone being one million.

The Florida GOP’s path to 1 million voter lead over Democrats by election day: what data shows

“Florida: Now home to nearly 1 million more Republicans than Democrats – and growing every day!” said Republican Party of Florida Chairman Evan Power in April.

What’s more, Duval County Republicans have recently narrowed down the Democratic lead to just over 10,000 voters when it was previously nearly 20,000.

The two major urban counties inching in the GOP’s favor over time include Duval and Hillsborough County, leaning Democratic by 1.83% and 1.37%, respectively.

Next up could be the major urban county of Miami-Dade, which leans Democrat by a sizeable 4.65%, or over 67,000 voters. The region has swung Republican in recent years during elections though, with Gov. Ron DeSantis winning the county in 2022.
