5: Esme Mazzeo

How does Business Insider celebrate Christmas? They upload a piece bashing a Christmas classic, Elf

“‘Elf’ makes fun of disabled adults through Buddy – whether purposefully or not,” Mazzeo writes, saying that it “mocks” disabled people and that Will Ferrel’s disability is “heavily implied.”

“But I couldn’t sit through ‘Elf’ for more than 10 minutes without feeling offended,” she writes. Mazzeo has shown that no matter where you look, you can always find a reason to be offended.

4: Hanna Trudo

Trudo shared a Miami Herald piece meant to scare people on social media: “largest single-day increase since August.” The interesting thing, though, is that blue states like New York are seeing tens of thousands of more cases than Florida despite harsher measures.

The Miami Herald article focuses solely on Florida, seemingly fear-mongering and inducing panic. In reality, deaths and hospitalizations are not yet seeing a spike and blue states like New York are witnessing more cases.

Include the full story next time.

3: Anne Geggis

In a deceitful article, Geggis frames her report on a South Florida Catholic shelter potentially losing its license due to Governor DeSantis’ executive order in response to the Biden Administrations relaxed illegal immigration policies.

The headline, and the first several paragraphs of the article (hardly anyone reads past either) frames the story to make the reader believe DeSantis is mercilessly dooming Cuban children to living on the streets.

This is a lie. Cubans seeking asylum likely have a valid claim, Christina Pushaw, DeSantis’ press secretary, said. On the other hand, according to international law, foreign nationals from other Latin American countries moving to the United States and then, Florida, are in a different category than Cubans.

Lead off with the truth next time, Geggis.

2: Peter Schorsch

Last week’s #1 most liberal reporter made the list for a second week in a row. Congrats! He fell down in the rankings, but that’s only because this week’s #1 was tough to beat.

‘Objective Reporter’ Schorsch referred to COVID-19 as a “plague,” despite an extraordinarily low fatality rate, especially among the average population at-large, and even worse, fear-mongered over Florida’s new case totals despite hospitalizations and deaths being the most important metric.

Peter – 1: a plague does not give you cold-like symptoms; 2: the science tells us that hospitalizations and deaths matter, not cases. Omicron is much less severe, according to new data, and it is not worth panicking over.

Be objective.

1: Fabiola Santiago

In a Miami Herald piece, Santiago rips into DeSantis for being “selfish” and not mandating the population to take vaccines, wear masks, and shutting down schools and businesses.

In a flat out lie, Santiago notably claims that DeSantis is “peddling treatment instead of prevention,” and claims that DeSantis’ policies come “perilously close to Fascism.”

Fact: DeSantis promotes immune health to prevent all infection, not just COVID-19, and he has recently announced a new preventative monoclonal antibody cocktail. DeSantis peddles both treatment and prevention.

Fact: giving your citizens freedom to make medical and personal decisions is the opposite of fascism, while Democrat policies like lockdowns and mandates coincide with fascism.

It’s one thing to be left-wing biased; it’s another thing to flat-out lie to your readers.
