FORT MYERS (FLV) – Peltz Shoes on S. Cleveland Avenue in Fort Myers will be hosting a hand-out opportunity of ‘free luxury shoes’ to those impacted by Hurricane Ian on Monday, Oct. 17, from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

The donation comes from around 500 donated pairs of brand-new adult shoes.

Destroyed Buildings, No Jobs, ‘Craziest Nightmares’

Since Ian battered many parts of Florida, making landfall in Southwest Florida just over two weeks ago, private corporations, charities, governments, and out-of-state contractors honed in on recovery efforts, working to get the power back on, restore water, and getting vital supplies to those who lost everything.

Take a walk in downtown Fort Myers and one cannot miss the buzz of business owners gutting their stores after floodwaters damaged many of the buildings.

“You don’t even expect this to happen in your wildest dreams and your craziest nightmares,” said Robby Podgorski.

Podgorski has worked non-stop to clean up after water flooded and destroyed his Green Cup Cafe businesses.

“The damage is as deep as I think it could go,” he said. “I don’t think it could have been any worse.”
