TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (FLV) – Florida State University is under fire after Professor Tyler McCreary was photographed during his lecture wearing what appeared to be an ‘Antifa’ T-shirt.

Florida’s Voice obtained an image of Professor McCreary sporting a shirt bearing a raised fist with the phrase “NO PASARAN” which translates to “They Shall not Pass,” a phrase associated with Antifa groups.

McCreary is an assistant professor in the Department of Geography at Florida State University.

His bio reads, “His research examines how settler colonialism and racial capitalism inflect processes of environmental, labour, and community governance in North America.”

The picture has raised questions on whether Florida State University professors are implementing their personal ideologies into course curriculum.

“A teacher at work should be neutral,” one user said.

“Keep your politics to yourself when you are teaching,” another added.

One user defended the teacher, asking, “Everybody should be anti fascist, why aren’t you?”

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis recently targeted political bias in Florida’s higher education system, vowing to defund diversity, equity, and inclusion and critical race theory “bureaucracies.”

“The most significant deadweight cost at universities is typically unproductive tenure faculty. And so why would we want to saddle you as taxpayers with that cost, if we don’t have to do that,” he said.

“We must ensure that our institutions of higher learning are focused on academic excellence and the pursuit of truth, not the imposition of trendy ideology,” DeSantis said at his second inauguration.

Florida’s Voice reached out to Florida State University and Professor McCreary for comment.
