FORT MYERS (FLV) – Less than two weeks from the election, the Florida GOP resurfaced comments of Democratic candidates supporting lockdowns.

In an email, the GOP knocked Sen. Annette Taddeo, Charlie Crist, and Karla Hernandez-Mats for their stances.

The group resurfaced this March of 2020 tweet where Taddeo quote tweeted a map of coronavirus outbreak projections.

Taddeo faces Republican incumbent Maria Elvira Salazar to represent South Florida in Congress for the 27th district.

The GOP pointed to an interview where Democrat gubernatorial candidate Charlie Crist in July of 2021 wanted mask mandates and lockdowns again. At this time, Gov. Ron DeSantis had staunchly stood against those mandates.

INTERVIEWER: “You criticized him for saying there shouldn’t be a mask mandate. Do you think there should be mask mandates or state-ordered lockdowns?”

CRIST: “Yeah, of course. I mean my gosh. People are dying.”

“New election, same anti-parent players. Charlie Crist, Karla Marx and Annette Taddeo would be catastrophic for Florida,” said RNC Spokeswoman Julia Friedland.
