DeSantis Looks For New Florida State Guard Director, Encourages Applicants

TALLAHASSEE (FLV) –  Gov. Ron DeSantis’ office announced the state is looking for a Director of the newly re-established Florida State Guard. 

The Florida State Guard (FLSG) is Florida’s civilian force that will help support the state’s emergency response. The administration wants the new director to have a strong background in military operations and be able to lead 400 guard members. 

The Director will oversee recruitment, training and mobilization of the force when there is an emergency. You can apply to be the Director of the FLSG here.

Members of the FLSG will be required to meet the same standards as the Florida National guard. Those include: 

– Florida resident between the ages of 18 and 60, with a desire to serve the state.

– Willingness to work in a team.

– Tactical or emergency response knowledge.

– Ability to pass a physical.

– Ability to participate in annual weekend training.

The DeSantis administration encourages skilled Floridians with emergency response, law enforcement or military training apply. They can apply to be a part of the Florida State Guard here.
