JACKSONVILLE (FLV) – The well-known LGBTQ organization in Duval County, JASMYN, advertised card games that showcased sketches of penises while promoting an event for teens as young as 13.

Jacksonville Area Sexual Minority Youth Network, called JASMYN, posted photos on Instagram of people playing the graphic card game at their events called “SaturGayz”. Posts from Instagram show “SaturGayz” were promoted for people ages 13 to 24.

JASMYN’s website says it offers programs and services for those 13 to 29. The group also partners with Duval County schools to create training programs that build supportive school environments for LGBTQ students.

The Florida Standard first reported on JASMYN promoting the card game at its Saturday events. They reported the group took down pictures of the card game after requesting a comment. Florida’s Voice received pictures from those who documented the card game posts before JASMYN removed them from their Instagram page.

The card game, named Dick Match, is advertised on Amazon as an “Adults-Only” game for 18 year-olds. Amazon blurs out the images of the penises. The graphic images on the playing cards reveal a wide array of different penises including, different skin colors, pubic hair, size and age and most of the cards have a nickname label alongside the drawings.

The Florida Standard’s picture shows the game was promoted on June 25.

“SaturGayz at Jasmyn!! Come play board games with Zy and Christina! We’re here until 3pm today! Free HIV testing, Jimmy Johns Sandwich, bus passes, and safe space! #jasmynjax,” JASMYN’s caption said.

Florida’s Voice reached out to JASMYN and asked if they require underage teens to have parental consent in order to attend and play the game, or if they require a valid form of identification for those who are 18 years or older. JASMYN did not respond to multiple requests for a comment.

Pictures showed “SaturGayz” was hosted every second and fourth Saturday of each month. The event is not advertised on their website calendar.

In July, the JASMYNJAX Instagram page posted a photo of a dildo surrounded by condoms with the caption: “Do you know the correct way to put a condom on? Get a free HIV test and Show us the way and get a prize today during SaturGayz!”

The post invited teens as young as 13 to join as well as free food, bus passes, condoms, lube, HIV testing, PrEP linkage, games, showers, laundry and more.

JASMYN Partnership With Duval County Public Schools

Documents show Duval County Public Schools partners with JASMYN to provide services to the district and students. Those services include helping train teachers to build “safe and supportive” school environment for LGBTQ students.

The group also develops a referral system linking students directly to JASMYN for care coordination assistance with medical linkage.

Florida’s Voice reached out multiple times to Duval County Public Schools for a comment about the card game but did not receive a response.

JASMYN helps DCPS plan, train, and implement all program activities, inclusive of LGBTQ students, under the Safe and Supportive Environment (SSE) Initiatives to support Duval County middle and high school students. The group also helps disseminate Youth Risk Behavior Survey data to partners and the school system.

JASMYN has a host of sponsors including Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Florida Blue and the University of North Florida. Florida’s Voice reached out to the groups for a comment but did not receive a response.

This story will be updated if any responses are provided.
