JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (FLV) – The Jacksonville Jaguars released a presentation video of a potential $2 billion public-private investment plan to renovate TIAA Bank Field for their new stadium.

“This venue is much more than just a stadium. It is a reflection of our city and community, celebrating the essence of who we are while casting a vision of who we’re becoming,” the Jaguars’ video stated.

The Jaguars said the stadium will position Downtown Jacksonville as an “essential stop” for the “biggest entertainment and sporting events in the world.”

“This transformation will become a catalyst for Jacksonville that transcends the Jaguars and the NFL creating a revitalized and re-energized urban destination that will show everyone and remind us that we are indeed, proud, bold and committed,” the presentation video stated.

The Jaguars said the stadium will be a “driver” in the growth and evolution of Jackonville’s industries and workforce, creating jobs, careers and “capturing the imagination of people everywhere.”

Jaguars Owner Shad Khan and his executives will reportedly start stadium negotiations with Mayor-elect Donna Deegan’s administration with a deal framework in place as Mayor Lenny Curry leaves office and Deegan takes the mayor’s seat July 1.

According to city documents from May 11, cost estimates for the stadium could be $1.2 billion to $1.4 billion with the city paying $800 million to $934 million for nearly two-thirds of the project.

Cost estimates for the mixed-use development around the stadium are $550 million to $668 million with the city contributing $75 million to $100 million.

According to News4Jax, Jaguars team president Mark Lamping will hold a series of 14 community conversations about the team’s stadium proposal and answer questions at the following places and dates:

  • Strings Sports Brewery June 12 from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m.
  • Ramada by Wyndham Jacksonville June 13 from 5-6:30 p.m.
  • Jacksonville Golf & Country Club June 14 from 5-6:30 p.m.
  • Hyatt Place on Duval Road June 15 from 5-6:30 p.m.
  • Argyle Branch Library June 16 from 11:30-1 p.m.
  • Deerwood Country Club June 17 from 11:30-1 p.m.
  • Atlantic Beach Country Club June 17 from 5-6:30 p.m.
  • Community First Igloo June 19 from 11:30-1 p.m.
  • Fairfield Inn and Suites on Chaffee Point Blvd. June 19 from 5-6:30 p.m.
  • Grounds of Grace in Arlington June 20 from 11:30-1 p.m.
  • Bradham and Brooks Library June 20 from 5-6:30 p.m.
  • Casa Marina Hotel June 21 from 11:30-1 p.m.
  • Charles Webb Wesconnett Regional Library June 21 from 5-6:30 p.m.
  • The Zoo June 22 from 11:30-1 p.m.

“We fully anticipate a reimagined sports complex with the renovated stadium as its centerpiece will spark development in the east end of Downtown Jacksonville similar to the renaissance of the Brooklyn neighborhood to the west,” Lamping said in a statement. “Combining the power of development to both the west and east of Downtown Jacksonville should create even more momentum in our downtown core, which is already set to benefit from The Shipyards project currently underway.”

According to the Jaguars, the transformed stadium will have fans enter through a tropical Floridian park into the concourse, which will be raised 30-feet above ground level to provide views of the city and water.

The new stadium will have a shaded canopy, which they said will reduce the heat factor by 70%.
