JACKSONVILLE (FLV) – Jessica Baker has been endorsed by the nonprofit JAXBIZ in the race for the newly-drawn District 17 seat in the Florida House of Representatives.

JAXBIZ is affiliated with Jax Alliance, which supports business-friendly candidates to local and state offices. The group said it wants candidates who display a commitment to economic growth.

“As mother of two young children and a prosecutor, Jessica has the background and skill set to be effective for our region in the Florida House and continue our thriving economy,” JAXBIZ Board Chair Abel Harding said. “We look forward to a strong partnership with her.”

Baker is an Assistant State Attorney in the 7th Judicial Circuit. She previously worked in Intergovernmental Affairs for Jacksonville Mayor Lenny Curry and did similar work for government affairs firms in Jacksonville and Tallahassee.

“I will fight fool-hearted attempts to defund the police, support educational and healthcare freedom and work to keep our economy open and growing,” Baker’s website says.
