Joe Gruters backs Donald Trump for 2024
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (FLV) – Sen. Joe Gruters, R-Sarasota, a well-known Florida lawmaker, backed Donald Trump for president in 2024.
“With the A team. Onward to ‘24!” Gruters said after meeting with the former president along with other Florida leaders at Mar-a-Lago.
Gruters is the former chairman of the Republican Party of Florida.
Trump hosted a Mar-a-Lago meetup with Florida leaders who endorsed him. Some of those included U.S. Reps. Byron Donalds, Anna Paulina Luna, Greg Steube, Cory Mills, and Matt Gaetz.
Trump endorsed Gruters in the race for treasurer of the Republican National Committee in January.
“I have known Joe since before I was a candidate in 2016, and before he was even elected to office. Now he is representing Sarasota, the home of Truth Social, very very well,” Trump said.
“Joe has done a great job leading Florida Republicans to historic wins, including my two great victories, and he will do a fantastic job as RNC Treasurer. Joe Gruters has my Complete and Total Endorsement!”
Gruters became chairman of the Republican Party of Florida in January 2019, and was re-elected in 2021. He oversaw as the number of Republican registered voters skyrocketed above Democrats.
Gruters was the co-chair of President Trump’s 2016 Florida presidential campaign.
The Sarasota state senator had been the chairman of the Republican Party of Sarasota for the last 14 years.
