Laurel Lee Wins Primary Race for CD 15

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY (FLV) – Laurel Lee is the Republican nominee for the newly drawn Congressional District 15.

The district faced a crowded field of candidates including Kelli Stargel, Jackie Toledo, Kevin McGovern and Demetries Grimes.

Preliminary election results show Lee with 41% of the vote, Stargel with 27%, Toledo received 11.6%, Demetries garnered 10%, and McGovern with 8.7%.

Lee will face Alan Cohn in the November general election. Cohn won the Democratic primary with 33% of the vote Tuesday.

The new district encompasses Northeast Hillsborough County along with parts of Pasco and Polk Counties.

Laurel Lee resigned from her position as Secretary of State under Gov. Ron DeSantis to run for Congress. Lee has served as a Circuit Court Judge and a federal prosecutor for the United States Attorney’s Office.
