PALM COAST, R-Fla. – Sen. Jim Boyd, R-Bradenton, announced his endorsement of Rep. Tom Leek, R-Ormond Beach, on Monday.

Leek is running for Senate District 7, which is currently held by Sen. Travis Hutson, R-Palm Coast, who will term out at the end of the year.

“I worked alongside Tom Leek throughout the budgetary process in addressing the challenges and opportunities facing Floridians,” Boyd said.

“We acted as fiscal conservatives, always mindful we were expending the taxpayers’ dollars, and from that close working relationship I strongly endorse his bid for the State Senate,” he added,

Leek thanked Boyd for his endorsement in a statement as well.

“Thank you to Senator Jim Boyd for his support of my campaign as together we work to serve the people of Florida in our State Senate,” he said.

Leek has also been endorsed by other prominent Florida Republicans, including Gov. Ron DeSantis, Attorney General Ashley Moody, Senate President-Designate Ben Albritton, R-Bartow, and others.

Boyd is the expected Senate president for the 2027-28 legislative sessions, following Albritton’s service at the position.

The district covers all of St. Johns, Putnam, and Flagler Counties, as well as part of Volusia County.

Leek faces both primary and general election opposition for the seat.
