TALLAHASSEE (FLV) – Gov. Ron DeSantis took aim at some California school districts for reinstating mask mandates.

“Forced masking is BACK in California,” DeSantis said. “Leftist states cannot help themselves – they are philosophically addicted to mandates and restrictions.”

The governor tweeted a Fox News clip showing parents speaking against the mask mandate.

“The fact of the matter is that kids are at a minimal risk, many of these kids have been vaccinated, and the cloth masking has been shown repeatedly to not work,” one speaker said at a San Diego rally against wearing masks.

The DeSantis Administration fought against Florida school districts that wanted to impose mask mandates on students. Governor DeSantis believes parents should be able to decide whether their students wear masks. The governor threatened financial penalties on school districts that did impose mask mandates.

“In Florida, we know what freedom looks like and this isn’t it,” DeSantis said Tuesday. “We will never allow the Left to seize power and impose mandates on Floridians.”

The San Diego school district suggested that students uncomfortable with wearing a mask should not return to school.
