TALLAHASSEE (FLV) – Republican Sen. Marco Rubio is ahead of Democrat U.S. Rep. Val Demings 50% to 42% in the race for U.S. Senate according to a recent poll

Florida Politics reports that the pollster, Center Street, claims Rubio is the favorite, but he is not drawing in new voters.

Rubio received 50% of the vote among likely voters. When all Florida voters were polled, Rubio was at 45% and Demings polled at 40%.

As of March 31, Demings reportedly raised nearly $30.8 million while Rubio raised nearly $30.1 million since January of 2021.

Business Insider reports that this Senate race will be “crucial” for Democrats as they lose steam in Florida.

Democrats in Florida are losing their grip on the sunshine state as Democrat voter registration numbers dip and donors pull out their resources.
