Miami-Dade School Board Rejects LGBTQ Ideology Proposal, Parents Outraged: ‘Direct Violation of Our Parental Rights Bill’
MIAMI (FLV) – Miami Dade School Board voted 8-1 against the H-11 action which would recognize October as LGBTQ+ History Month.
The proposal was rejected because parents believed it conflicted with the state’s Parental Rights in Education bill.
During the meeting, parents opposed to the measure had the opportunity to voice their opinions, reportedly using the term “indoctrination” when speaking against the measure, saying it was parents’ right to decide whether to teach their children about gay and lesbian rights rather than teachers in public schools.
School Board member Christi Fraga, who voted against the action, said, “I do believe this is in direct violation of our parental rights bill, if not so directly, in spirit, it is. Because this is saying a full endorsement in the entire district of this month – that includes Kindergarten through 12th grade.”
Gays Against Groomers, a coalition of gay people created to stop the sexualization and abuse of young children, were outside of the meeting with a digital billboard displaying anti-grooming messaging:
Jaimee Michell, founder of Gays Against Groomers, told Florida’s Voice, “Big tech has been silencing our voices since we launched our coalition, so we are bringing it to the streets. We will no longer allow children to be indoctrinated by LGBTQ+ propaganda, and are going to make sure everyone trying to do so knows the vast majority of our community opposes this agenda being pushed in our name.”
Gays Against Groomers started in June and was recently featured on Tucker Carlson’s FOX show after being unjustly suspended from Twitter multiple times. The Twitter account has grown to almost 100,000 followers in less than three months.
