Mob corners Moms for Liberty members at Capitol, chant ‘we charge you with genocide’: video

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (FLV) – The co-founder of Moms for Liberty told Florida’s Voice that a mob of people cornered some of the their members in the Capitol Tuesday.

Co-Founder Tina Descovich said Moms for Liberty members went to watch House lawmakers debate gender-related bills when protesters “closed in around them” and “backed them up to the door.”

She said the House gallery doors were closing because they were at capacity when the protesters arrived.

“The mob of the angry protesters formed around them and closed in around them,” Descovich said. “That kind of backed them up to the door and they had no place to go.”

At that point, she said Capitol Police pulled the members in to escape the protesters.

Video below shows protesters yelling “Moms for Liberty, you can’t hide. We charge you with genocide.”

They began to scream “let us in” and cried out profanity.

Erika Donalds, the wife of Rep. Byron Donalds, R-Fla., filmed the incident. She was not wearing a Moms for Liberty shirt, unlike the other members at the time.

“So the protestors surrounded them but I was stuck behind the protestors which is when I started recording,” Donalds said. “They were pushing the door and trapping them and defying the House officers.”

Donalds said the group of protesters were trying to push the doors open while the officers were attempting to shut the doors.

“Clearly to harass the Moms for Liberty members,” Donalds said.

Donalds said another officer got her to get away from the mob.

House lawmakers debated bills Tuesday that would ban sex reassignment surgeries and treatments for minors, prohibit minors from attending “adult live performances,” and require businesses provide separate bathrooms for males and females.
