‘Moving Day!’: Truck parks outside LeAnna Cumber’s house hours prior to election loss
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (FLV) – A U-Haul truck parked outside LeAnna Cumber’s house, showcasing the sign “Moving Day” just hours prior to her losing in the Jacksonville Mayoral race.
Jacksonville City Councilmember LeAnna Cumber lost in the bid for mayor Tuesday against a field of seven candidates.
Republican Daniel Davis will face off against Democrat Donna Deegan in a runoff.
Cumber received around 7.5% of the vote, unofficial results show.
She will no longer serve on city council as well for district 5.
Cumber faced an uphill battle after a Special Investigatory Committee on JEA matters was reopened in February.
Jacksonville City Council President Terrance Freeman reopened the investigation after emails contradicted Councilwoman Cumber’s claims that she had no conflicts of interest in the JEA attempted sale.
However, surfaced emails show her husband was involved, prompting requests from councilmembers to investigate further.
The Special Investigatory Committee would reportedly will give the case to the city ethics commission.
However, the investigation was put on hold until after the upcoming election.
During the Feb. 23 meeting, the chairman said Cumber told the committee directly and through her attorney that her husband was an FBI informant and that the FBI “asked her” not to disclose the information on the disclosure to the original Special Investigatory Committee.
