LOXAHATCHEE, Fla. – The School District of Palm Beach County officially broke ground Tuesday on a new elementary school being built in the West Acreage area near the Arden neighborhood of Loxahatchee.

According to Palm Beach Schools, a name for the school will be issued at a later date. The building also is expected to open by August 2025.

The elementary school is located in District 6, represented by board member Marcia Andrews.

Specifically, the school will include an agricultural laboratory, hydroponic garden, planter beds, and polished concrete flooring in part of the school. The building also will feature an architectural aesthetic similar to housing in the area.

“The mission of the School District of Palm Beach County is to educate, affirm, and inspire each student in an equity-embedded school system,” the district says.

With its foundation, the building will join 182 district-operated schools within the county. Two-thirds of those schools have been rated as “A” or “B” rated schools.

Palm Beach schools has also achieved a 92% graduation rate.

Overall, the district is home to an estimated 189,000 students, making it the first largest school district in Florida. It also is the tenth largest school district in the United States.

In addition, nearly 13,000 classroom teachers are employed by Palm Beach schools. The district also employs nearly 23,000 workers overall.
