TALLAHASSEE (FCV) – Since the beginning of the pandemic, moving to Florida has become a trend with former residents of large metropolitan areas seeking to find a new home in sunny Florida.

In a December 9th survey from Move.org, a moving assistance company, out of 1,000 U.S. residents who moved in 2021, the majority said they moved to Florida.

Nearly half of the respondents said they moved in 2021 for affordability reasons, 43% said they moved to experience a better culture, and nearly 40% stated they moved for political reasons.

Florida’s Office of Economic and Demographics Research (EDR) predicts that between April 1, 2021 and April 1, 2026, the state’s population will grow by an average of 309,867 net new residents per year.

Governor Ron DeSantis’ (R) policies have pushed against mask mandates and supported the police, the opposite of what left-leaning areas support.
