TALLAHASSEE (FLV) –  A newly-formed political action committee is trying to draft Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis to run for President in 2024, according to Fox News

The Ready for Ron PAC is being spearheaded by a Republican consultant who has been involved with former Republican Presidents Ronald Reagan and Donald Trump.

DeSantis is currently running to serve a second term as Florida’s governor. The outlet reports that the PAC is being run by Ed Rollins who helped Reagan be elected in 1984 and Miami conservative activists Lilian Rodriguez-Baz. Those two began an online petition to draft DeSantis for president.

“Ready for Ron” reportedly already made an ad buy to garner attention for the petition.

Rollins said the Ready for Ron committee will be a resource for DeSantis supporters if or until there is a formal DeSantis campaign is launched for president.

Under FEC rules, PACs are independent and cannot coordinate with campaigns like DeSantis.

Governor DeSantis has raised $105.4 million of on-hand cash. The candidate had his biggest fundraising month in April, raising $10.4 that month.
