TALLAHASSEE (FCV) – Florida Gubernatorial Candidate and Commissioner of Agriculture, Nikki Fried (D), tweeted “Florida’s a Blue State,” early Monday afternoon.

Fried, who is currently trailing Florida Governor Ron Desantis (R) by around 23% in a recent poll, made the remark just four days after Fox News reported that registered Republicans now outnumber Democrats by over 100,000 for the first time in the state’s history.

Late last year, the amount of registered Republicans in Florida overtook the number of registered Democrat voters. However, with Florida’s economy booming amid a pandemic that has left many other state economies in shambles and with record high nationwide inflation plaguing the United States, Republicans in Florida have seen a massive surge in voter registration this year.

Not only was Commissioner Fried’s statement incorrect, but it is increasingly evolving into fantasy as the traditionally purple state becomes more and more red, now by a six figure margin.

The Democrat is not only facing an uphill battle against incumbent Governor DeSantis and exponential growth in the number of registered Republicans, but she continues to lag behind in her own primary race.

Many polls show Fried trailing her Democrat opponent, former Florida Governor and U.S. Representative Charlie Crist.

This past March, Crist’s campaign pulled in almost three times the amount of money Fried and her campaign were able to garner, spelling trouble for the future of her candidacy.
