FLORIDA (FLV) – More than 1.5 million Florida customers are without power due to Hurricane Ian as of 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Hurricane Ian made landfall at 3:05 p.m. near Cayo Costa, according to the National Hurricane Center.

The website PowerOutage.us provides a map listing counties and providers experiencing disruptions.

According to the map, the counties with the most outages are Lee County, Charlotte County, Collier County, and Sarasota County.

If you experience a disruption, always check in with your service provider and report the outage directly to them.

Florida Power & Light (FPL) says as soon as it is safe to do so they will be on the ground and in the air assessing damage and deploying crews.

More than 40,000 people are ready to help bring the power back on following the storm. The governor said Wednesday morning he expected millions to lose power “no question.”

“And these folks are staged across the state of Florida,” DeSantis said.

DeSantis said the “strong storm” will push trees over and affect power lines. Florida Power and Light Director of External Affairs Jim Bush said line workers have traveled from 30 states to help Florida.

To report a downed power line, call 911 or 1-800-4OUTAGE.
