This past Tuesday, Florida’s Conservative Voice hosted another great podcast at Seed to Table. Tuesday’s show featured a fantastic guest, Matt Caldwell, a former member of the Florida House of Representatives.

Our patriots kicked off the podcast on a topic that’s on the minds of conservatives across the nation, election integrity. Caldwell opened the discussion by sharing his personal experience of narrowly losing his 2018 election for Florida Agriculture Commissioner due to suspicious mail in votes; describing how what happened to President Trump in the 2020 presidential election happened to him two years earlier.

Caldwell described how he went to sleep the night of the 2018 election as the winner; however, Broward County, the most blue county in Florida, continued to “find” votes days after the polls had closed. “Over the course of the next two days they kept “finding” ballots until they nearly caught Rick Scott, they nearly caught Ron DeSantis, and ultimately they were able to catch me,” said Matt.

The Patriot Talk Show continued with our patriots discussing what needs to happen in order to secure future elections at both the state and national level. Caldwell shared his thoughts with our hosts, explaining how we need to both ensure places with a history of election fraud comply with state and federal law and that republicans need to show up at the ballot box. Matt commented, “As conservatives, while you’ve got this one approach that you have to go after making sure people aren’t breaking the law, the other side is we just have to get another point. Right? If we turn out 1% more of our voters they can’t catch us.”

Our patriots then discussed the role of evangelicals in politics. Drew-Montez Clark made a great case as to why people of faith need to become more active in politics, “Culture influences policy and the church and people of faith are called to influence culture and if they’re not at the forefront and if they feel like they can’t be involved in politics then they’re not influencing culture and if they’re not influencing culture something else is.” After Caldwell pointed out that only 50% of Christians are registered to vote and only 50% of Christians vote. Alfie Oakes quoted a Bible verse from James 2, “faith without action is dead”, and explained that evangelicals need to not only be at the forefront of culture but also need to show up to vote.

Finally, our patriots closed by talking about a little bit of everything, including President Biden’s domestic terroism strategy that seems to target conservatives, how Governor Ron DeSantis’ re-election in 2022 is the nation’s most important upcoming election, and how conservatives are expecting a red wave in the 2022 midterm elections.

Thank you to everyone who tuned in to this week’s podcast! Join Drew, Alfie, and Brendon Leslie for next week’s podcast at Seed to Table or on live stream Tuesday, June 22nd at 7pm. We hope to see YOU there!
